March On Washington

By March 11, 2022No Comments

In a time of civil unrest, the fellowmen of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship Incorporated came together with thousands of others to join forces with the National Action Network to demonstrate our advocacy for comprehensive police accountability reform, the Census, and mobilizing voters for the November elections. Alongside members of the Westchester Graduate Chapter were neighboring chapter members (Raider, Bulldog 1, Northern Jersey Grad, Long Island Grad, Montclair State & Northern Maryland).

The Commitment March took place on August 28th, 2020 — the 57th anniversary of the historic March on Washington, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” Speech. Announced by Rev. Al Sharpton during George Floyd’s memorial it is co-convened by Martin Luther King, III.

National Action Network is one of the leading civil rights organizations in the Nation with chapters throughout the entire United States. Founded in 1991 by Reverend Al Sharpton, NAN works within the spirit and tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to promote a modern civil rights agenda that includes the fight for one standard of justice, decency and equal opportunities for all people regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, citizenship, criminal record, economic status, gender, gender expression, or sexuality.
